Snapdragon - Plug tray (9)
£4.50
Snapdragons (Antirrhinum majus) are vibrant, flowers famous for their unique shape that resembles a dragon's snout. When you gently squeeze the sides of a bloom, it "snaps" open like a dragon's mouth. While technically short-lived perennials, they are most often grown as annuals in the UK.
Snapdragons are versatile plants that work well in borders, cottage gardens, and containers.
They thrive in full sun (at least 6 hours daily) and rich, well-draining soil.
Keep young seedlings moist. Once established, they need roughly an inch of water per week, ideally watered at the base to prevent disease.
Encouraging Blooms: Pinch off the tops of young plants (about 6 inches tall) to encourage bushier growth and more flower spikes. Regularly deadhead spent flowers to prolong the blooming season, which typically spans June to October.
