A robust, vigorous evergreen shrub celebrated for its large, dome-shaped clusters of flowers. Dating back to before 1850, a classic variety that is exceptionally hardy, making it a staple for northern gardens and exposed sites.

Glossy, leathery, dark green leaves that remain year-round.

Can grows as large as 2.5–4 metres tall and wide, though it can take 10 years to reach roughly 1.8 metres.

Highly resistant to cold, rated H7 in the UK (withstands temperatures below -20°C).

Blooms late spring to early summer, usually between May and June.

Best suited for partial or dappled shade. While it can tolerate full sun, the soil must remain consistently moist.

Roots should never dry out.

It should not be planted too deeply, as this can lead to root rot.
