1L Salvia - Roman Red

Salvia 'Roman Red' is a vibrant interspecific hybrid known for its striking ruby-red tubular flowers and exceptional garden performance. A cross between Salvia splendens (Scarlet Sage) and Salvia darcyi, it combines the intense colour of the former with the heat and drought tolerance.

It features large, vivid scarlet blooms that emerge from dark maroon-purple sepals, creating a dramatic bicolour effect.

Unlike many traditional red salvias, 'Roman Red' has a more compact, mounded, and heavily branched structure, making it a "thriller" for large containers or borders.

Half-hardy perennial.

Reaches approximately 70–90 cm (28–34 inches) in height and spread.

Continuous flowering from late spring until the first frosts of autumn.

Highly attractive to hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies.
