Commonly known as Rose of Sharon.

This is a popular, hardy, deciduous shrub often sold under the name Hibiscus speciosus in garden centres. It is widely admired for its large, double creamy-white flowers that feature a dramatic maroon-red centre.

Appearance: A bushy, upright plant reaching heights of up to 2.5 metres. It has dark green, lobed leaves that appear in late spring.

Blooming: It is a prolific late-summer bloomer, often providing colour from mid-summer through mid-autumn when other shrubs begin to fade.

Care: Extremely low-maintenance and frost-hardy. It thrives in well-drained, sunny spots but is tolerant of most garden conditions except deep shade.
