Extremely vigorous ("mile-a-minute" vine), reaching an ultimate height of 6–8 metres and a spread of up to 3–4 metres.
Fully hardy and thrives in full sun or partial shade. It prefers its "head in the sun and feet in the shade,"
No routine pruning is required. If you need to restrict its spread, prune immediately after flowering in early summer. Avoid late-season pruning.
