Hallmark feature is its vibrant foliage transition. In early spring, new leaves emerge in a striking bold scarlet or rosy-pink. As the season progresses into summer, this growth matures into a deep, glossy green. During spring, it also produces pendulous clusters of soft pinkish or white flowers that are highly attractive to pollinators like bees.

Prefers partial shade or dappled light. In cooler climates, it can handle full sun if the soil stays moist, but intense afternoon sun can scorch the tender new scarlet growth.

It should be planted at the same depth as it was in its nursery pot to ensure proper blooming.

Apply a 5–7cm mulch of pine needles or bark in early spring to retain moisture and maintain soil acidity. Deadhead faded flower clusters in late spring to encourage vigor.
